Ghirlandaio. Ghirlandajo or Ghirlandaio (1449-1494), was the most succesfull Italian painter of his time in Florence.

Several sets

He painted several sets of frescoes which are traditional and routine in composition and expression. But in portraits in the frescoes and in separate small paintings, he produced vivid representations of the personalities of Lorenzo the Magnificent's age.

Michelangelo

Michelangelo was one of his apprentices. He was born Domenico di Tommaso Bigordi in Florence. A "Graceful Angel" shows the delicate detail Domenico Ghirlandajo included in his painting. The angel appears on altarpiece which is now in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.
