Giorgio Vasari - Cosimo I    Florence, "Palazzo Vecchio" room of Leone X.

In the painting of Vasari, nearby to the duke's image in weapons there is, down to the right, the Capricorn. This was not the sign of Cosimo but his ascendancy. The Duke had chosen to stay under the protection of this constellation, really because it was the August empersign or over that the ancestor Lorenzo the Magnificent and the Emperor Carlo V, to whose politics was tied up
